My theory....
The Middle Ages ended when “coffee” entered the English language.
When people discuss their desired superpower, I scoff at flight. I want the ability to automagically refill an empty coffee cup—hot, frothy, delicious.
And guess who started publishing around the Middle Ages? Shakespeare. I’m not saying he drank coffee, but he drank coffee.
